U13 Update

The U13's have had a quiet start to the year with the exception of a number of lads who made it to the U14 panel for Feile. These lads will continue to be part of the U14 set up for the rest of the league and also for the championship but will rejoin the U13 squad for the City League.

Training will continue over the next coming weeks with an outing on both Wednesday's (St. Enda's at 7:30 pm) and Sunday's (St. Mary's 11:00 am). We also have a couple more U14B matches to play.

City League

Meanwhile, the U13 City League will begin on June 20th. The following are the fixtures:

June 20th v An Spideal (H) 11:00 F. Rice

June 27th v St. James (A) 11:00 J. Henry

July 4th v Clarinbridge (H) 11:00 J. Henry

July 11th v Bearna (H) 11:00 J. Henry

July 18th v Moycullen (A) 11:00 F. Walsh

August 27th Free

September 3rd v Claregalway (A) 7:00 G. Cahill

Austin Stacks

We hope to travel to the Austin Stacks tournament in Tralee in September.

U12's go Surfin' PDF Print E-mail

While the U12B's were involved in a keenly contested final match, against near neighbours Barna, the U12A's decided on a trip down to the Banner County to grab some R'n'R after their deliberations against Leitir Mor, Moycullen, Annaghdown and Mounbellew/Moylough. The surf was up, the babes were out and the lads were in their element. Shapes were thrown on the waves and on the beach, not to mention the struttin' that was done on the long Lahinch promenade.

We had a group of 24 lads who all had a go and showed great promise, while improving their balancing skills - one of the instructors even surfed in on a wave while doing a hand-stand! Two of the coaches tried their hand with the svelte Rory Griffin, in his brand new body-hugging wetsuit, leading the way in the stand-up stakes.

The lads had two good hours on the waves and seemed to have a ball with various degrees of lying, standing, kneeling, falling, wiping out, dunking and general mayhem all round. The conditions were perfect with one of the best days of our summer(!) so far. Some of the gang had to be dragged out of the water kicking and screaming at the end they were having such craic.

We were very well looked after by the able-bodied surfers from Lahinch Surf School - Paul, Ronan and Cillian and also Sinead in the office. Soup and sandwiches were horsed into after the session in O'Looneys bar / restaurant - special thanks to Lousie for being so tolerant.
